Tasks

Make offerings of flowers, incense, perfume, tea and food to the Chief Devata of the new kitchen and her retinue before commencing work each day. Make appropriate offerings to the Chief kitchen God.

Make sure someone is appointed chant Buddha Dhamma as offerings to generate protection for the workers

Take photographs of each stage of the building construction during the day

Provide suitable food and refreshments for the builders.

Be mindful of Occupational Health & Safety at all times

Building Construction Team

Building construction team for the week: Frank Carter, Rodney Johnson, David Ley, David Igracki, Jim Lane, Julian Bamford and others

Construction Tasks

Daily work start time: 9.00am - finish time 6.00pm

Tasks to be completed in listed sequence - subject to any variation such as builders and/or availability of resources.

1. Complete fixing of colourbond roofing and guttering - Steve Cuff - Plumber (scheduled for Monday & Tuesday)
2. Buy and fit door to North wall access
3. Arrange a plumber's quote for the kitchen plumbing.
4. Electrical wiring to be fitted (scheduled for Wednesday)
5. Arrange the building team for the week and weekend.
6. Complete fitting of supporting collar ties to every second rafter. (Rodney)
7. Fix sisalation on battens above the Anita Room.
8. Refit corrugated roofing iron above the Anita Room.
9. Fix flashing onto join between new roof structure and old roofing iron.
10. Complete fitting of weatherboards
11. Punch nails in weatherboard.
12. Put putty over punched nails in weatherboard.
13. Sand putty on weatherboards.
14. Seal weatherboard gaps with no more gaps sealant.
15. Paint weatherboards.
16. Re-putty east wall windows and refit into frame
17. Sand kitchen window frame for painting and clean the kitchen windows.
18. Finish and check the kitchen plan including pantry.

Sinks: 1 x deep wash sink, 1 x single stainless stell sink with drain tray and the sink from the existing kitchen.
Set of hot and cold water taps per sink
Stove: gas hot plate and wall oven
Benchtops: timber

Designer to note the following:

All cupboards and kitchen fittings in the existing house kitchen can be included in the design and fit-out of the new kitchen.

Design to show detail: how pantry seals, lighting, cupboard design, exhaust system, fire extinguisher, drawers, splash area, tiles (present design allows for one row of (square) tiles from bench top to window sill)

Note: The kitchen window is larger than the window drawn in the building plans.

The kitchen fixture (cupboards etc) shall be constructed onsite by Members.

5. Buy clouts, hoop strapping and liquid putty
6. Place liquid putty into cavity in the floor joist near the kitchen window
7. Finish strapping the wall studs to the bearer underneath each stud.
8. Strap each stud to the top plate.
9. Arrange inspection of framing. Contact the Shire of Yarra Ranges.
10. Fix flashing to the top of windows (see window of Sariputta Room as an example)
11. Fix insulation bats into the old roof area where old insulation has been removed.
12. Refix the electrical cable underneath the verandah floor.
13. Fit and fix sisalation on external walls.
14. Fit weatherboards
15. Seal weatherboard gaps with sealant. (See Rodney)
16. Undercoat weatherboards.

2. Fix flashing to top of windows (see new door frame for example)
3. Fix insulation bats into old roof area (under tarp) where old insulation has been removed
4. Fit and fix sisalation on external walls
5. Remove window from reading room for installation into East end of kitchen
6. Arrange inspection of framing with Shire of Yarra Ranges
7. Install windows in wall frames after completion of roof frame and fitting of colourbond
8. Strengthen ridge beam on existing house roof
9. Fit fascia to east end wall
10. Fit weatherboard stops at building corners
11. Plumber: to fit plumbing - taps, gas etc
