Occupational Health and Safety Plan for the Construction of the New Kitchen Dining Room

First draft written by Frank Carter B.Ec.
Joint Occupational Health and Safety Manager

Preliminaries

Check each stage of the construction schedule with the Abbott of the Temple when planning for this project.

Prior to each days work prepare a written plan for what will be done the next day. Provide a copy for the Abbott and any persons working or assisting on the project.

1.0 Offerings to be made to Devas for Protection

1.1 Under the guidance of the Abbot of the Temple offerings of tea, flowers and suitable food are to be made to the Chief Deva who manages the New Kitchen Dining Room project and the Chief God of Kitchens before construction commences each day.

1.2 Offerings of incense, perfume and flowers are to be made to the other Devas and Nagas who help with this project on each day construction is occurring. Include offerings to the Occupational Health and Safety Devas associated with the projects and safety equipment.

1.3 The Chief Deva who manages the New Kitchen Dining Room project, the Chief God of Kitchens and the other Devas and Nagas who help are to be requested to provide protection to the persons working on this project so that they do not have accidents or injuries. This request is to be made at the time offerings are completed.

1.4 The Chief Deva who manages the New Kitchen Dining Room project, the Chief God of Kitchens and the other Devas and Nagas who help are to be thanked for their help in the construction of the New Kitchen Dining Room at the completion of each days construction. Request they please continue to help on the next occasion that work is being done.

Safety glasses must also be worn when working overhead with handtools such as hand saws, hammers, files, drills and chisels.

2.4 Hard Hats

3.2 Tools
Tools and building equipment must be packed away at the end of each day's work. Power tools and electric extension cords must be placed under cover if it starts to rain.
