Fire Protection Wall


The Fire Protection Wall set on the outside of the existing garden, near the drive provides a barrier against the threat of radiant heat was constructed 8 January 2002 to 11 January 2002. The wall design and work was guided by John D. Hughes and carried out by Frank Carter, Peter Boswell, Matt Radford, Julian Bamford, Lisa Nelson, Rodney Johnson.


On 9 January 2002, John D. Hughes, Peter Boswell, Lisa Nelson and Pennie White offered to the protector devas. The following items were offered into each of the four stump holes for the new fire protection shield that will run along the outside of the hall of assembly and the driveway: flower petals, rose essential oil, incense, copper coin, silver coin, cardamom seeds, gold paper, blessed water and a pearl.


The four cypress posts were set at 800mm deep and treated with creosote paint to strengthen the foundations. Photographed by Pennie White.

The 4 posts and treated pine lattice have been painted with Brunswick Green Solarguard outdoor paint.


Four Lion Temple Protectors were fixed to the four posts, one facing North, one South, one East, and one West.

The 7.5 meters long and 3 metres high wall, protects and encloses the Ch'an garden.
